Non-Ferrous Metals

These metals contain no significant amount of iron (typically less than 1%). 

• Properties: They are usually lighter, more malleable, and have higher electrical conductivity than ferrous metals. They are non-magnetic.

• Corrosion: They are naturally resistant to rust and corrosion, as they do not contain iron to form iron oxide.

• Examples:

  • Aluminum: Lightweight and used extensively in aerospace and food packaging.

  • Copper: Highly conductive; used for electrical wiring and plumbing.

  • Brass & Bronze: Copper-based alloys used for ornaments, gears, and marine hardware.
